The Opening
Nov. 3rd, 2018 12:03 amThe castle in its last few quiet moments of being empty is dusty and full of cobwebs, candles and fireplaces crackling merrily. A slightly open window in the front parlor has curtains gently blowing in the wind, snow making a slight pile on top of the expensive carpet. The wind itself howls a little as it goes through the rest of the open doors of the house. High in the attic the last bat does its sleepy squeak, the same for the small rat in the basement...
Then the cats start portaling themselves in.
The largest of the void cats, clearly the mother, pads around the foyer for a few moments before sitting and beginning to lick her paw.
The others take it as a sign and wisk themselves away back into the void, returning moments later with...well...you. All around the castle the portal noises are going off, cats returning from the void with all of these visitors. (...Okay, new residents, because you never leave when you'd like to.)
And it seems as if the castle is aware of its new guests, the main kitchen suddenly all a bubble with cooking, the attached dining room spreads out fresh linen and plates.
The mother void cat might look at one or two of you in the eye just before she yawns and then disappears into the inky blackness herself.
